Voting

As a registered voter, there are two ways for you to cast your ballot:

In Person

On election day you may go to your designated polling location and cast your ballot at your designated precinct. If you are not certain of your precinct polling location, contact your board of elections or see a map of the polling locations near you here.

Request an Absentee Ballot

Any registered voter in Ohio may request and cast an absentee ballot; you do not need to state a reason to vote absentee. An absentee ballot must be applied for in writing and submitted to your county board of elections. Your request must contain the following information:

  1. Your name;

  2. Your signature;

  3. The address at which you are registered to vote;

  4. Your date of birth;

  5. ONE of the following;

    1. You driver's license number;

    2. The last four digits of your Social Security number;

    3. A copy of your current and valid identification (See Voter Identification Requirements for details.)

  6. A statement identifying the election for which you are requesting an absentee voter's ballot;

  7. A statement that you are a qualified elector;

  8. If the request is for a primary election ballot, your political party affiliation (by omitting this, you will be sent an issues-only ballot);

  9. If you want the ballot to be mailed, the address to which you want it mailed.

You may, but are not required to, use the absentee ballot request application form prescribed by the Secretary of State, which can be downloaded here, or requested from your county board of elections. Make sure to request you absentee ballot by noon on the Saturday before the election (by mail) or the day before the election (in person).

Once you've received you absentee ballot and voted, it must be returned in person by mail to your county board of elections by 7:30 pm on Election Day in order to be counted.
